How to Fix MBR Error in Windows XP
MBR is the abbreviation of Master Boot Record, it is the first part of your hard drive where the BIOS looks for an operating system in your PC and if the MBR in your system is corrupted, your system will not boot the system operator. When this problem occurs, your system displays an error like these:
· Error loading the operating system
· Missing operating system
· Invalid partition table
If your system has an MBR problem, follow these steps to fix the MBR problem
1. Insert the Windows XP disc into your CD Drive
2. Restart your computer
3. Press any key when asked “Press any key to boot from CD Rom”
4. Once the Windows XP installation is loaded, you will see an option “To repair the Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R” select it and press Enter.
5. When the system enters the Recovery Console and loads, you have to enter a number that corresponds to your Windows installation. This number is usually 1
6. After writing the number press Enter
7. Type Administrative password and press Enter
8. Now type the fixmbr command in the command prompt, this command will replace your old MBR with the new MBR and help your system to boot properly.
