1. Go

July 2-4, 2018, 7:30pm

Hollywood Bowl

2301 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90068

(323) 850-2000

It’s summer, the sun is out, the games are on, the fireworks are on for the 4th of July…what else to look forward to?

Well, maybe America’s very own 1980s Spice Girl?

The Go-Gos, an all-female rock band from Los Angeles in the 1980s, are playing multiple venues this summer, including the famous Hollywood Bowl. Despite going into semi-retirement in 1985, this all-female group thrived on the musical wave of the 1970s. Fans know them as a rare all-female group who play their own instruments and write and sing their own songs. It’s a refreshing change from making bands and cookie-cutter bands. The Billboard charts welcome them, and so do their fans.

In summer 2018, Go-Gos will bring the original cast to perform at Oakland’s Fox Theatre, the Humphrey Theater by the Bay and the Hollywood Bowl. Tickets are on sale at The HollywoodBowl.com. After news of their 2016 “farewell tour” broke, the hit singer appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Indicates that the group is only fully retired. They’re ready to excite fans with hits like “We Got the Beat” and “Our Lips are Sealed,” while the Los Angeles Philharmonic will be led by Musical and Artistic Director Gustavo Dudamel.

2. The seaside lagoon and its summer swimming pool

redondo beach

200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach, CA 90277

10am-5:45pm daily in summer

(310) 318-0681

If you’re looking for a place to hang out with the family and kids, Seaside Lagoon is the perfect choice. While the attraction isn’t open during the off-season, the 50-foot-deep saltwater lagoon is often full. Taking a respite from the hustle and bustle of city life, you can enjoy a few quiet moments sunbathing, building sandcastles and splashing in the water.

Usage naturally increases during the summer months, especially during stand-alone fireworks events. During this time, the beach area will remain open from 2pm to 10pm with professional lifeguards guarding the pool. The swimming pool uses cutting-edge technology to clean and treat up to 1.5 million gallons of water that flows into and out of the lagoon from nearby streams.

Go all out with family and friends to enjoy the water park rides, slides, playground, and after you pack up your food at the snack bar, enjoy a few rounds of beach volleyball, picnic, swim and listen to the waves crashing in from the Pacific Ocean. If you have an event, book the meadows and luau sanctuary and you’ll have a great time.
